FAQs
Why should I use GoLanguages.com over other agencies?
- GoLanguages.com is dedicated to being the world’s most reliable language company
- Most language companies start their lives as sole linguists setting up their own small businesses, working with just one language combination. Though fine linguists, they rarely have the resources needed to manage diverse projects efficiently
- GoLanguages.com was founded as a company dedicated to the effective management of projects: delivering the right product on time and on budget. We are driven by quality, reliability, and client service – and have built our reputation on making promises that we always keep
- Some clients use us just for our project management skills – they come to us with specific linguists that they want us to employ, but they hand over the management of their projects to us because we know how to get the job done
- We only work with corporate clients
- To offer our clients the highest levels of professional service, we have an international network of partner agencies. We believe that we’re the best full-service language company in the world
- Like our existing clients, you’ll use us again and again because we offer a level of reliability and security that other agencies cannot match
- Like many clients, you’ll choose to work with us because other language companies can’t fulfil your needs or because they fail to deliver on their promises
Does GoLanguages.com have an international network?
We work with partner agencies in: Canada, China, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Israel, Italy, Japan, Korea, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Slovak Republic, Spain, Sweden, Thailand and Turkey
Do you have in-house translators?
No, definitely not. The risk with in-house translators is that they are used to translate texts that they do not have the expertise to master properly. We only place projects with translators who have the right linguistic and subject skills to meet your needs
How many translators do you have access to?
We have database access to over 10,000 professionally qualified and accredited translators, plus other translators who are managed by our partner agencies worldwide
Who will complete my translation?
All translation work is carried out by professionally qualified translators, who ONLY work into their mother-tongue language. 98 percent of our work is completed in the target-language country
What qualifications do your translators have?
All translators have internationally recognised academic and professional qualifications. The majority of our top translators are MA or PhD qualified in linguistics or translation. On most high-end projects, working closely with our international partner agencies, we use translator teams where one translator translates and the second edits and proofs the work. All translators have membership of one or more professional body, such as the Institute of Translation and Interpreting, Institute of Linguists, or mother-country equivalent where available
What languages can you translate?
We translate all European and major world languages, into and out of English, including: Albanian, Arabic, Bengali, Bosnian, Bulgarian, Chinese, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, Estonian, Finnish, Flemish, French, German, Greek, Gujarati, Hebrew, Hindi, Hungarian, Ilocano, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Latvian, Lithuanian, Malayalam, Malaysian, Norwegian, Pilipino / Filipino, Polish, Portuguese (for Europe or Brazil), Punjabi, Romanian, Russian, Serbian, Slovak, Slovenian, Spanish (for Europe or Latin America), Swedish, Tagalog, Telugu, Thai, Turkish, Ukrainian, Urdu, Vietnamese, Welsh, etc. We can also translate across languages – from French into German, for example
How do I order a translation?
You can send us a request by email. You can phone first if you want to, but you don’t have to. As soon as we receive your request, we will action it immediately. Click here for contact details
Will you give me an obligation free quote before you start the project?
Yes. We aim to deliver accurate quotes within 2 working hours of any client request – without obligation, of course. Contact us by clicking here
How much will the translation cost?
The price of a translation depends on:
- the source language that you are working from and the target language that you are working into
- the length of the translation
- the subject matter
- the type of translation needed – creative, technical, etc
- click here for more details
What are your rates?
We offer a two-tier system of rates – depending on the level of expertise and skill that you require. Click here for more details
What is a minimum charge?
Small projects of less than 300 words attract minimum charge fees. When possible, place your work in blocks larger than 300 words to avoid paying minimum charges
Are there any hidden charges?
No. You only pay for the work that we complete. We will provide a quote before we start a project and we guarantee not to exceed a quote once it has been given, so long as you don’t change the source material. If we misquote and a project exceeds our expectations, we will cap the final invoice in line with the quote given. You won’t ever face any unexpected charges. If a project comes in under quote, we will invoice you on the lower amount
How is the invoice calculated?
Where available, we take a verifiable electronic word count of the source language file and multiply that count by the per word fee rate set for the language we’re translating into. If the source material is not in a countable form (hard-copy or locked file) the invoice will be issued against a count of the target language file. You will ONLY pay for the number of words translated – there are no hidden fees. Some languages, such as Chinese and Japanese, are always invoiced against the English source or target count
What are your payment terms and conditions?
28 days. For a full list of our Terms and Conditions of Service, click here
How quickly can you deliver the translation?
A translator can complete between 1,500 and 2,500 words of text per day. Also allow a modest amount of lead time for translator availability and subsequent proofreading. If you need a job urgently, we can split a project between two or more translators
Can you help me with a really urgent translation?
If anybody can, we probably can. If we can’t, we’ll tell you straight away – we won’t keep you hanging on for an answer
What format should I send projects to you in?
Most clients send us their work by email in Word, Excel, PowerPoint or PDF format. We can accept other formats, but do check with us first. For the best results, supply Word files
What format will you return the files to me in?
Most translations will be delivered by email to you in Word, Excel or PowerPoint – translators will usually overwrite your source language files
How much do different languages expand by over English?
The Romance languages (Italian, French, Spanish, etc) are more wordy than English and can expand by as much as 25 or even 30 percent. The Slavonic languages are far more concise and will only expand by a modest amount. Some languages, like Finnish, even contract
